Here is your chance to sit with an inspiring women founder and talk with her and two others in an informal setting about her journey and at the same time meet other  like-minded founders.

You will have the opportunity to book with the founder of your choice. During that time you will introduce your company to the group (max 4 to a table) and then the founder will talk about their journey and lead a discussion around a few chosen topics.

We hope the time with these amazing women will inspire you, and the small circle you are sitting with to share your experiences, give each other tips and encouragement along the way.

Below is the list of inspiring women who will be participating. Please give your top 3 choices when you register for the event. We will make every effort to confirm your first choice but we cannot guarantee. Groups will be on a first come, first served basis.

Presenter Details:

Suzanne Liu Duddek, Owner, S.Liu & Co., Chartered Accountants & CPA's

Suzanne Liu Duddek of S. Liu & Co., is an Australian Chartered Accountant, Hong Kong Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser with 36 years of experience. Suzanne was brought up in Sydney and moved to Hong Kong in 1988. Like many expatriates, a two-year job assignment has turned out to be a permanent stay in Hong Kong. She has been running her own firm for 27 years. She has 10 full-time employees, most of them have been with her firm for a long time. She will be sharing her tips on running a business in Hong Kong, especially during the economic downturns, how to retain employees, as well as how to be tax efficient in connection with a company’s profit.

Questions:

  • Review of critical problems in businesses I have seen during my 36 years in audit and tax that can be avoided. For example, agreements, loans, tax planning, etc.
  • What are the common mistakes when claiming tax deductible expenses?

Sharlene Jacquier, Founder/ Director, Joint Dynamics and AmCham WOI 2021 Entrepreneur of the Year winner (SOLD OUT)

Although Sharlene is a founder and one of the ownership team of the health and wellness company - Joint Dynamics, to say she is a passionate founder would be a total misnomer. Sharlene was an unwilling entrepreneur, and the health and wellness space was not her calling (she's not even sporty!). She does not "do" anything that her company is known for but has become a successful, passionate and integral driver of the company's ongoing success.

Her career foundations in process design and execution has been invaluable in the set-up and running of a Hong Kong company from an operational perspective. While Sharlene learned from doing, failing, and trying again we want you to take away key lessons to build successful operations in your own company (without the failing).

Questions:

  • What are the three mistakes you made that you would warn other entrepreneurs to be wary of?
  • What are three decisions you made that have played a role in your company's success?

Shea Stanley, Founder, Little Steps Asia (SOLD OUT)

Originally from Texas, Shea’s media career has taken her around the globe to over 50 countries where she has worked on a variety of TV, print, and digital projects. When she was pregnant with her first child, Shea longed for a resource offering fun finds and insider tips for parents in Asia. In 2011, she founded Little Steps Asia, a digital media company dedicated to delivering the inside scoop to parents on what to do, buy, and discover in Asia and beyond. Little Steps Asia has been successfully running regionally with dedicated local sites in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bali, Jakarta, Macau, and Kuala Lumpur. Content for families is produced across a range of platforms including websites, email newsletters, social media, live streaming, and video production. Shea looks forward to sharing her tips on automation, building a hybrid global team to maximize efficiencies, media tips and tricks, the power of SEO, and sharing new ways of marketing to niche audiences.

Questions:

  • What 3 tools or tips have you found helpful in helping your business scale up?
  • What have you found the most rewarding benefits of launching a business beyond profitability and product?

Sarah Garner, Founder, Retykle (SOLD OUT)

For over a decade, Sarah worked with some of the best luxury fashion companies in the world. Starting her career in Toronto as a Buyer for Holt Renfrew, Canada’s luxury department store, Sarah became restless for change and was drawn to China, the geography with explosive growth in her industry.

Sarah arrived in Hong Kong in 2007 and landed at Lane Crawford as their Womenswear Buyer. After several years of Milan, Paris and New York fashion weeks, Sarah moved on to a larger global inventory management role at DFS in their fashion division. From there she moved on to a dynamic and creative role at Shanghai Tang as Head of Product Development, Design, Merchandising, Planning and Visual Merchandising. Being immersed in the front lines of fashion consumption for over a decade left Sarah feeling disenchanted with the industry. She wanted to apply her experience to a side of fashion that offered solutions to the mounting environmental and social issues associated with the industry.

The idea for Retykle started after her son was born and she confronted the issue of a closet full of outgrown clothes and the challenges associated with how to manage the cost and the hassle of a constantly rotating kids wardrobe. With her first hand experience and industry experience, she felt she was well positioned to create the solution.

Questions:

  • What are the top 3 mistakes you made that you would warn other entrepreneurs to be wary of?
  • What are 3 decisions that have played a role in your company's success?
